# The Aerospace & Defense Market: Start with the Right NAICS & PSC Codes

I recently had an organization looking more closely at the **Aerospace & Defense market**, which raised a deceptively simple question:

**Which NAICS and PSC codes should you actually be using to define the market?**

The answer isn’t always straightforward, especially when we are not looking at specific keywords and looking at the industry as a whole. 

Aerospace alone can span aircraft and parts manufacturing, engines and propulsion, missiles and space vehicles, R&D, and support activities. Defense is even broader—there is no single “defense” NAICS code. Depending on what you are trying to understand, the market can include weapons, combat vehicles, C4ISR, engineering, R&D, sustainment, and other products and services.
